Since it is a laneway suite, it already plays on the theme of connectivity through having an owner and a tenant. Currently, there is a family of three in the house with working parents. To emphasize the idea of connectivity, the house's structure is divided into two solids and two void spaces used to create the final form that integrates the interior and exterior spaces in a unique way. Using this technique also gave the laneway house the feel of being more significant and more spacious.

The focal point of connection in the house is the courtyard. The use of glazing increases the visual connection to the place and creates a light tunnel that illuminates the interior of both the first and second floors. Another vital link the courtyard creates is a physical one, where it leads the user to the central hallway system in the house – making it the most central void in the place.
